John Northam Promoted

John Northam has been promoted to the position of Senior Relationship Banker in CNB’s Meridian Region. With over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, John joined the Bank in December 2009 in the Bank’s Accounting Department as a Staff Accountant and Finance Specialist, and transferred to the Bank’s Credit Administration Department in June 2012 where he was promoted to serve as a Credit Analyst Manager. In March 2015, he was promoted to the position of a Vice President and Relationship Banker in the Meridian Region.

Prior to joining CNB, John served as a Mortgage Specialist with Regions Bank for five years and also as a Registered Financial Advisor with New York Life in the earliest days of his career.

John received his Bachelors of Business Administration degree from Liberty University in 2002 and his Masters of Business Administration from Mississippi State University in 2009. A member of the Leadership Lauderdale Class of 2016, he also graduated in 2022 from the Graduate School of Banking at LSU.

In 2020, John was recognized by the Mississippi Business Journal as one of their Top 50 Under 40. His community involvement includes currently serving as Treasurer for the Meridian Museum of Art, Treasurer for United Way of East MS, and Treasurer of the Jimmie Rodgers Foundation. He is the current President of the Love’s Kitchen Board and a Past President of the Meridian Civitan Club and assisted with fundraising for the Mississippi Children’s Museum in Meridian during their capital campaign.

Neil Henry, CNB’s Meridian Regional President, recently commented on his excitement for John to be assuming this role: “John is a rare find. Customers not only love him, but they also understand the true value he brings to a banking relationship. He’s not an order taker, but someone that can sit with a customer, understand their business, and then offer valuable advice to help a business thrive.

He also uses his extensive credit background to help customers understand financial trends that can make an immediate impact on their business. He’s a great teacher and works well with others and these attributes are sure to be an asset to the bank as he leads our commercial lenders in the Meridian Region.”

Neil continued by saying, “I’m proud of John and so happy for him to assume this position because he’s prepared for this role and has worked hard for it. He cares for his customers, our bank, and our community and this is a great combination for success.”

John and his wife, Jenn, are members of Central United Methodist Church and have one son and one daughter: Frances is 8, and John Melton is 4.

Congratulations, John, on this well-deserved promotion!
