Gordon Mason Promoted

Gordon Mason has been promoted to the position of Chief Accounting Officer for the Bank.

A graduate of the University of Mississippi, Gordon received his Bachelor of Accountancy degree in 2001. A year later, he received his Master of Accountancy degree. While at Ole Miss, he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, and he is also a 1997 graduate of Meridian High School.

With over 20 years of experience in his area of expertise, Gordon has been a member of the CNB family since 2012, and originally joined the Bank as Assistant Treasurer. His prior employment consisted of positions as a Senior Accountant with Charter Bank in West Point, Georgia, as well as Colonial Bank in Montgomery, AL, which was acquired by Branch Banking and Trust (BB&T) during his employment there. His earliest accounting related experience was gained through his employment with Grantham Poole in Jackson, Mississippi, as an auditor, and with Kassouf & Company in Birmingham as a Tax Accountant.

In 2015, he was promoted to serve as the Bank’s Controller and has been serving in that position since that time.

Gordon’s responsibilities include the day-to-day supervision of the Bank’s Accounting Department. In addition, Gordon continues to oversee the preparation of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, reports to shareholders, tax returns, and reports for government regulatory agencies, and he will continue to supervise the Bank’s investment of funds.

Hampton Thames, President, recently said, “Gordon has made an exceptional contribution to the Bank’s success over the years and we are very excited that he now has this opportunity to lead and manage this area of the Bank going forward.”

Congratulations, Gordon, on this well deserved promotion!
